Recorded at Santa Barbara Sound Design, Precious is the 41st single by Depeche Mode (and their 34th in the US). It was pre-released by Mute Germany on 30 September 2005 and officially released on 3 October. Precious is the band’s first single since 1993 to have a European commercial 7-inch issued outside of Germany, notably made available more than a year after the single’s other formats due to fan demand. As a result, catalogue-wise, the subsequent singles A Pain That I’m Used To, Suffer Well, and John The Revelator / Lilian had already been issued as 7-inch vinyls by this time.
