Exclusively distributed to members of the official fan club in December 1987 with the very first edition of BONG magazine, the flexi-disc HAPPY CHRISTMAS 87 from Depeche Mode features a demo cover of Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth, originally released by Sparks in 1974. The song was never commercially released by Depeche Mode. However, a version with additional instrumentation and production is featured on Martin Gore’s solo debut, Counterfeit e.p., from 1989.
Note: When the fan club was closed in 2002, a total of 52 issues of Bong magazine had been published.
