Originally released on 25 November 1991, 2, Singles 7-12 features 26 tracks across six CDs, including singles, B-sides, and remixes from 1983 and 1984. It was the second box set in a series of initially three boxes, released simultaneously with 1, Singles 1-6 and 3, Singles 13-18. Each CD-single was also made available individually. In 2004 followed 4, Singles 19-24, 5, Singles 25-30, and 6, Singles 31-36, alongside reissues of the first three boxes.

Over the years, 2, Singles 7-12 was reissued several times. All UK editions, as well as the Beneluxian and German versions, have ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ on the front, while the US editions display ‘MADE IN THE USA.’ The European reissue is marked with ‘DMBX2’ and a barcode.
